Frequently Asked Questions | Susan Martin - Christian Weight Loss Coach for Women 45+

Frequently Asked Questions

I have a demanding career and a busy family life. How much time does this program actually require?

The Joyful Journey Weight Loss Experience is designed for the woman of impact who doesn't have hours to spend at the gym or in the kitchen. The focus is on strategic, sustainable shifts that integrate into your existing professional routine. During the program, plan for 1 hour weekly coaching calls and no more than 1 hour learning and implementing this new lifestyle. We move away from "labor-intensive" dieting and toward a streamlined lifestyle that actually returns time to your day by increasing your energy and mental clarity. Overall, expect to spend 1-2 hours per week on this program.

I’m over 45 and dealing with midlife hormonal changes. Is it even possible for me to lose weight at this stage?

Yes, absolutely! This journey is the path Susan walked herself and lost 60+ pounds after the age of 60. Many midlife women feel "stuck" because traditional methods don't account for metabolic shifts in midlife. Our approach focuses on reducing chronic inflammation which leads to metabolic restoration and cellular health.

What does "Faithful Eating" actually mean in a practical, daily sense?

Faithful Eating is the practice of viewing nourishment as a sacred act of stewardship. Practically, it means moving away from junk foods that harm your body and choosing delicious foods that nourish honor your body as the God-given Temple it is. Faithful Eating means becoming aware of how certain foods entrap us, keeping us in a vicious cycle of perpetual hunger, overeating, and ultimately, physical decline. A Faithful Eating lifestyle means turning every meal into a strategic victory that sets you free from the Enemy’s snare.

I've tried every fad diet out there. How is this different from what I've tried before?

First, and foremost, this is NOT a DIET. Most diets are actually designed to fail because they focus on calorie restriction. Calorie restriction is a temporary fix at best and typically leads to regaining the weight loss and then some. The Joyful Journey Weight Loss Experience (and Faithful Eating) is completely different. We don’t count calories and we don’t have rigid menus. The method taught is a scientifically proven approach that breaks the food addiction and hunger cravings naturally at their root cause. We incorporate the power of the Holy Spirit living in you and your identity in Christ to break the "Enemy's snare" of food addiction and emotional eating, thus creating a permanent lifestyle shift rather than a temporary fix.

Will I have to follow a restrictive meal plan and give up all my favorite foods?

There is no "legalism" in this program. Faithful Eating is about food freedom and flexibility, not food fear. That said, there are certain food types that we necessarily avoid and/or reduce that actually work against you when you consume them by increasing your appetite, driving addiction, and creating inflammation. You have ultimate control of food choices. While we focus on real-food nutrition that reduces inflammation and hunger cravings, the goal is to equip you with the skills to navigate any professional dinner, holiday, or family gathering (and, yes, even restaurant menus) with confidence and peace.

How does this approach compare to weight loss injections or pills?

While medical interventions such as GLP-1 injections can offer a temporary drop in weight, they often fail to address the underlying metabolic processes or the emotional and spiritual roots of our relationship with food. Weight loss injections & medications are another form of calorie restriction, which we know are designed to fail (unless you continue for life and are willing to risk their serious side effects). The Joyful Journey Weight Loss Experience focuses on shifting your daily eating habits, which naturally leads to sustainable weight loss and wellness.

Is there a community aspect or will I be doing this on my own?

You are never alone. The Joyful Journey Weight Loss experience includes access to a private community of like-minded, high-achieving Christian women. Our community is a "safe haven" where we celebrate wins, share challenges, and provide the professional-level accountability that high-achievers need to succeed.
